The tickets are only $10 each, and there is no limit to the number that can be purchased. Clubs who would like to have this beautiful print hanging in their clubhouse are encouraged to have every club member buy multiple tickets- thus increasing the chances of winning the prize. About The Painting
This full color print (285/490) depicts the historical Waynesboro (PA) Municipal Airport circa 1942. It features vintage aircraft of the period (a Piper J-3 Cub, a Howard Low-Wing Trainer, and an F series Waco Biplane), and will remind many of the simpler life of long ago. Located on a 70 acre site near Waynesboro PA, the airport opened on May 30, 1930, as Blue Ridge Airways Airport, but became Waynesboro Municipal Airport in 1937. During World War II, the airport became a training facility for future military pilots to receive basic flight instruction in Navy N3N's, Stinson L-5's, and Taylor Crafts. The Airport closed in 1950, but the main hangar and runways still exist. This painting depicts local aviation life just before America became involved in World War II, forever changing the face of aviation, as we know it.

About The Artist
Landis Brent Whitsel, a native of South Central Pennsylvania, began his career as an artist at the age of 14 by painting the picturesque landscapes around his home. After High School graduation, Whitsel went on to study art at a number of local colleges and universities. Believing that to improve and grow artistically, an artist needs frequent exposure to new methods and ideas, he continues to attend workshops and seminars. He is a full time, professional artist and paints with all media from oils and acrylics to pastels and watercolors.

Besides his love of art, Landis is an ultralighter. His experience ranges from the vintage Eagles of the mid 1980's, through general and Sport Aviation today. He has been personally responsible for introducing many local residents to both ultralight and general aviation.

USUA gratefully thanks Landis for his generous donation of this magnificent work of art, and is sure that it will be a wonderful addition to your home, office or clubhouse.
