On September 15 and 16, 2003, the USUA Board met with Rich Pendergist, USUA Executive Vice President, in his office in Frederick, MD. Attending were Lew Clement, Reggie DeLoach and Art Greenfield.
The first order of business was a formality. Reggie DeLoach became President upon the departure of Scott Severen in February. The Board confirmed Reggie's position with a unanimous vote. Of primary concern at this meeting were elections to fill vacant Board positions. At the last annual meeting, the Board had created an Ex Officio position on the Board for a USUA Regional Representative. The regional representatives are in the process of selecting that person. The Board itself had three positions to fill.
Elected to the USUA Board of Directors was Bob Comperini, well-known in USUA and our web master; Jim Sweeney, a USUA AFI and active in the Powered Parachute community, and Skip Little of Ison Aircraft. Skip is a USUA pilot of long standing and very experienced in aircraft construction and standards. These three will come on board October 1st. Bob Comperini is the Vice President, Jim Sweeney is the Treasurer and Skip Little is the Secretary. We thank all three for their willingness to serve USUA.
The Board also established a committee, chaired by Art Greenfield and Bob Comperini, to review the organization's bylaws and make recommendations to the Board for any changes deemed appropriate and necessary. The first of these reports will be made at the annual meeting this February.
During the meeting, the Board took the opportunity to thank EVP Rich Pendergist, and staff members Dale Hooper and Carol Plotnick for their dedication and outstanding support of USUA.
