08/12/2003: Reaffirms Faith in USUA

Arty Trost (USUA #A51113) resigned from her position on the USUA Board of Directors earlier this month. According to Arty, her resignation was necessary as a result of the unanticipated and new responsibilities of caring for an ailing, elderly relative; as well as increased activities in her profession. These events conflict with the required level of attention necessary for board matters.

Arty made clear her desire to remain active with USUA as a member, pilot and special advisor to the USUA staff and Board of Directors. "The challenges of supporting Part 103, while also expanding to support those who choose to take the Sport Pilot/Light Sport Aircraft route, are considerable. I have complete faith that our staff and our Board are capable of meeting those challenges," Arty said.

An active business woman, as well as ultralight pilot, Arty made significant contributions to the operation of USUA during her tenure.

Earlier this year, as an avid, fun-flying enthusiast, Arty and her flying companion Randy Simpson made a cross country journey in their ultralights from Oregon to California. Highlights of the trip can be heard on an archived National Public Radio broadcast from Weekend Edition - Sunday, 10 August 2003.

The USUA Staff and Board of Directors are deeply indebted to Arty for the tireless effort and total commitment to her work while she was a director.
